In 2022 Lexington Hearth launched the Bluegrass Collection, a series of non-combustible fireplace mantels inspired by the history, culture, and landscape of Kentucky’s Bluegrass region.  Each fireplace mantel encapsulates a specific aspect of Kentucky’s identity. We began the process by scouring historic barns, farms, homes, and cabins across Central Kentucky in search of old-growth timbers, weathered beams, and native stones that would be both aesthetically stunning and uniquely representative of Kentucky character.

Our design artists then used these artifacts to create master mold models, which now serve as the foundation for our production process. We replicate the master models using our patented casting formulation and high-relief molding techniques, which authentically reproduce the exquisite intricacies of the original timbers and stones. These advanced production methods enable us to precisely recreate every crack, check, grain line, indentation, and striation of the source material. In our mantels you can see and feel the grain lines, tool marks and natural weathering from the original pieces.

Once the mantel is molded, our talented coloring artists meticulously hand-paint each one to exactly match the original piece’s hues, tones and textures. The result is a perfect recreation of the artifact. Through this process, we feel we’re infusing our mantels with the spirit of Kentucky, giving our customers an authentic way to bring a piece of the region into their homes.
